Kat Dennings, born Katherine Victoria Litwack on June 13, 1986 at Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania was the first born child of Ellen and Gerald Dennings. Ellen Dennings, Kat's maternal grandmother, is a writer and speech therapy. She has a father named Gerald. Gerald is a college prof in molecular biology. Dennings was raised in an Jewish family, and was the eldest child. Dennings was educated at home and only once did she attend a traditional school. Because she began acting at an early age she was best off homeschooling her. At 14, she finished the high school. When she was just nine years old, she was performing in commercials for television. In order to pursue her acting career, Kat Dennings moved with family into Los Angeles when she finished high-school. She began auditioning under the name of Kat Dennings.
